There are thought to be five stages we go through when facing a change as athlete. As we go through these stages, it is suggested that we progressively adapt to the change.
The five stages consist of:
- Denial: this refers to the initial fight against the new proposal of change
- Anger: feeling insecure and frustrated because of the new change.
- Dejection: the depressed state an individual feels when recognizing that a change is going to occur.
- Acceptance: knowing the change is going to happen and preparing for it.
- Learning: reflecting on the idea that change may be beneficial on performance.
How are you adapting to change?
